Be "that" polished woman.

Do you envy that friend that always looks “polished”?  Many of my clients say they admire my style because I always look “put together” and polished. To be honest, it’s really not difficult but sometimes we can’t see the wood for the trees so here are my top do’s and don’ts:

DO:

Have the hems of your sleeves and pants taken up if they’re too long.

DON’T:

Roll or fold them hoping no-one will notice! If your pants are too long, it may be that you have short-er legs (although I’m very tall and still have to take pants up), but when you cuff pants/jeans it can visually cut your legs off making them look even shorter, and doesn’t look polished. Jacket sleeves can look stylish when pushed up, but don’t cuff them.

DO:

Wear clean shoes.

DON’T:

Wear scuffed or dirty shoes.

DO:

Keep your nails clean and polished - even just a coat of clear polish to give them shine.

DON’T:

Wear chipped polish - none is better than chipped.

DO:

Spend more on investment pieces that you will wear for a long time - you will feel great in them, they will wear well, and will fit better than cheap pieces.

DON’T:

Scrimp on key items. High fashion pieces that will date don’t need to be expensive, but when looking for items like classic blazers, good shoes, and good bags - these are the pieces worth investing in.

DO:

Use accessories like scarves and jewellery to add some finesse to your look. These can really make an outfit pop.

DON’T:

Over accessorise - this can look tacky and detract from a chic style.
